This was a complete ground floor fitout for the Licensing Section of the WA Police Department. Works included the installation of new flooring, partitioning, utility areas, staff breakout areas, offices and meeting rooms, a secure armoury and seized store area, as well as new electrical, hydraulic and mechanical works. A new waiting area in the entry incorporated custom made customer service desks and loose furniture. The design required the incorporation of some existing finishes and materials, so new finishes were carefully considered to modernise the overall fitout.
The client was in occupation for the first two weeks of the program. Careful staging, to ensure business continuation, was implemented until Aurora had complete access to the site. Electrical switchboard upgrades were completed after hours due to multi-tenancy usage.
The 170 workstations supplied by the client arrived one week prior to completion, leaving only three days for electrical and data fitoff and commissioning. This required coordination from all parties to meet this incredibly tight timeframe. The timeframe of just seven weeks was challenging, however, through effective communication between the architect, client and subcontractors, the program was met on time and budget.
